HEAVENDROP’t is a veteran-run charity and division of national non-profit Evergreen Life Services that’s shifted gears recently to offer cloth face masks in the face of a dramatic ongoing need.They are accepting pre-orders for their masks that are made in large part from surplus parachute materials. They have quickly reorganized their operations to meet this dramatic, unforeseen need. In a word, they’ve pivoted!
Right now there’s a retail lead time of up to two weeks as they’re prioritizing work for front line workers and first responders who are putting themselves in harm’s way to take care of our most vulnerable populations.
Evergreen Life Services serves more than 1,100 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities nationwide, including the local HEAVENDROP’d facility in Largo. Your support will allow them to keep paying contract workers, who are veterans and adults with disabilities.
Here are the specs on this HEAVENDROP’t mask:
- Masks are made in accordance with medical recommendations and are not intended to be used in place of medical grade Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- This is a 5”x 9” four-layered fabric face mask that covers from your nose to under your chin along both sides of the face.
- These washable face masks are great for dust, pollen, physical face cover/barrier.
- The material is 300+ thread count 100% cotton.
- The cord is made from used military parachutes and extends 16 inches from the mask.
- Machine or hand washable with detergent in cold water, tumble dry on a low setting. It is recommended they be washed between each use.
- It is also recommended to wash them directly out of the package.
- The use of an inserted filter is optional and recommended.
- A fabric mask is not a replacement for an N95 mask, but the CDC does recognize that a fabric mask may protect from larger particles from a cough or a sneeze.
- All of their products are handmade by people with disabilities out of used military parachutes.
